Fagor CNC autoloader
A demonstration of a little piece of software I wrote with python to upload programs to a DMS router with a fagor controller using barcodes It verifies that the operator is authorized to operate the machine Then the operator scans the desired part number from a manufacturing order The software checks the part number on a database and pulls out the program name and required holding fixture The operator scans the holding fixture and this is verified against the database Then the operator scans the table in which he wants to run the program. The software converts the required code to allow table changes Finally the router’s barcode is scanned and the program is uploaded via FTP The router is configured to run program 111111 on table 1 and 222222 on table 2, so the software copies and renames the desired program with one of these names, according to the scanned table If something doesn’t check against the database the program won’t proceed and and a red label saying “Incorrect (part/fixture/table/router)” is displayed.

The operator would choose the part number to be machined and the machine did the rest. No need for CNC programming on this machine, which allows the company to use an operator rather than a programmer and an operator.
