CNC routing is becoming more and more accessible to the home woodworker. The benefits of CNC routing for production work such as signs is pretty clear, but a CNC can also be handy for making jigs for around your shop. Here, we’re using a CNC system to create a shop-made adjustable lathe chuck for use in bowl turning.

CNC Programming – G54 through G59 – Work Coordinate Systems

ManufacturingET.org An introduction to what G54 and G59 do on a typical CNC milling machine. Without a coordinate system offset, programming a CNC mill would be pretty tedious. AC Sys. offset allows you to put the coordinate system origin in a convenient place. www.manufacturinget.org
