UPDATE: Modifications and Tune Up on my home-made Solsylva CNC Router

Did some tuning-up, especially on the X axis. This involved mainly re-aligning the bearing blocks on the drive side, and to a lesser degree reworking the pulley/idler assembly at the stepper. The bearings went on the larger idler, and I had to find a way to take up the slack. I also added another idler to keep the belts separated. I believe they’d occasionally vibrate and mesh, which would cause the stepper to stall. With these improvements I have achieved stable rapids of over 338IPM on the x axis (getting oer 400 is no problem on the y). I seem to get smoother cuts on arcs and circles. My next project will be to swap the Lovejoy couplers out for anti-backlash couplers, or maybe even spiders with a harder compound.

Home made CNC router DVD Laser Fixed tb6560 driver MOD

This is TEST of improvment my china 5 axis driver card tb6560 fix: 100pF , 100nF + 74HC14 fix mod (bypased transoptor’s) Fixed : – Motor speed / dynamic. – loud noice. Now: – silence on stop – very smoth motor drive. Motor: Nema23 2.1Nm – 30mm/s max work Speed on all axis – 90mm/s Accelerate on all exis This move recorded #11 keychain 720p CAM. gretings.

To put my machine though its paces, I’m running code for cutting out a Strat-style guitar body. On my previous machine, due to its limitations, I was cutting at 50ipm, at a depth of .125″. I’m hoping to at least double the speed, and triple the depth of cut, with this machine. Right now I have the feedrate set at 150ipm. I could set the rapids as high as 400ipm, but then everything starts to shake, so a new table is in order.

DIY CNC Router, cutting BASS GUITAR BODY, part 1: PROFILING

In this video, I am doing the profile cuts for a bass body, out of a 1-piece billet of northern ash. Using a 1/2″ single flute motise compression spiral bit, at about 16k rpm and 120 ipm. taking 5/16″ deep passes. Spindle speed control courtesy of SuperPID. Toolpaths created woth Vectric VCarve Pro. DIY CNC Router, cutting BMX chain sprocket, Part 2: Profiling

Here I am cutting the shelf for the teeth, and rough and finish profiling. I thought that the four corner pieces would just fall off, but I cut the plate slightly too big! Luckily I was able to get them away before they jammed themselves under my vacuum plate!
