,Thanks, on all axis between the stepmotor and output axle I use belt type M5-9, from the output axle I use M5-15 but on the X axis I have 2 belts - one on each side. I have access to a lot of different materials, belts pulleys... but no ball screws, I figured it would be good enough with belts so I went that way. This is my first build, but if I should build a secound one I would go for profile rails instead of round rails, and ball screws instead of belts. Regards Morten

Not that important you will just have another ratio between motor rpm / axis movement. I have 16t on the motors going to a 72t and outputs to 18t on all axis, with a full step that gives in teory 0,1mm ( but in practice it's a little more because you stretch the belt to the axis). My motors have full torque up to 500rpm, so I am able to go about 10000mm/min at 500rpm, and I was lucky it worked wery well. I think it's important that the x & y axis have the same reduction.

Thanks again, belts are ok, but I would go for ballscrews if I should build another one, but depends what you use it for. I will do another video soon, and will try to show the settings there. It can go alot faster but this is ok, the importing thing is the acceleration, so you can keep your feedrate when changing directions, there are alot videos here on youtube where the machines can go very fast, but the acceleration takes allmost the working lenght of the table to get there, thats no good.

Amazing machine! Great work here. I saw lots of people ask about plans. I would also like that information. But maybe if you have the machine and I need to mill large foam blocks you can do it for a fee? I'm looking to make fiberglass molds, or even fiberglass parts. Don't know whether it would be worth shipping from Poland if you are interested. Let me know! Thanks!
