CNC Lathe

CNC Lathe

CNC Lathes turn stock to remove the material.  Most parts coming off a CNC Lathe will be cylindrical and symmetrical.  Production lathes are generally enclosed in a housing to cut down on coolant and chips from flying around.  A lot of hobbyist level lathes do not have this feature.  Many CNC Lathes are old manual lathes that have gone through a conversion to CNC.

CNC Lathes can also be dedicated to Wood Turning.  Think of all the different leg spindles or back spindles on chairs produced today.  Most were done on a CNC Wood Lathe to get a consistent, repeatable look and feel.

See the articles below for more information on CNC Lathes.
